2. What do I use to clean my newly tinted windows?
A mild soap & water solution along with a soft cloth is what is suggested but any household non-industrial, non-ammonia window cleaner will do. Never use a window cleaner unless it is specifically formulated for use on after-market tinted windows. We recommend Dirt-Off, a spray foam glass cleaner available here at Tint Tech Customs Window Tinting. We also have Glass Care Kits which consist of everthing that you need to keep your windows spic-n-span without harming your new window film.

3. Why do I see little "water pockets" or "patchiness" soon after installation?
This is very normal. We use a lot of water in our window film mounting solution to activate the adhesive and to allow us to move the film around and position it for a perfect installation. Although we squeegee out as much of the water as possible, some small amounts remain between the glass and the film. As this water evaporates through the film you may see little water pockets or foggy patches. These should go away within a few days but could last up to a month or so. This is especially the case if we apply a premium all metal film and there is very little sunshine to aid in the evaporation process in the days thereafter. Never poke, prod, or attempt to pop these water pockets or try to rub out the foggy patches, they will go away on their own.

5. Will my new window film fade?
All window films fade with time although better quality films (Lifetime Warranty Films) usually last the life of the vehicle. If you would like a long lasting film try our Llumar PP Series film (our Presidential Package film) which is an all-metal film that has a full Nationwide Manufacturer's Lifetime Replacement Warranty. Now, you can also try our Llumar ATR Series film (our Signature Series) which is non-reflective and also has a Manufacturer's Lifetime Warranty. The bottom line is, the better the quality of film that you purchase, the longer that it will last. In the end it comes down to you get what you pay for.

6. Will tinted windows inhibit my visibility at night?
This all depends on the shade and quality of film you select. Dark or “limo” (5%) tint will definitely decrease your visibility at night. If this is a concern, a lighter-medium shade would be advisable. For the ultimate in night-time clarity and visibility, we suggest 35% Signature Series window film. At night, you will barely even notice the windows are tinted, and during the day it rejects more heat and reduces more glare than darker, less effective films.

7. Does window film go on the inside or the outside?
Automotive Window Film goes on the inside surface of your windows thus keeping it safe from the elements.

8. Why do I see "bubbled" or "purple" tint on cars?
This happens when the window film is very old and of very poor quality (store-bought products usually have this outcome). Most cheap, store-bought films will discolor and turn purple. When this is accompanied by bubbles, the chances are the film used was a cheap brand and of very low quality. The bubbles are a result of a failure in the adhesive system causing the film to literally lift from the glass. If our window film ever bubbles, cracks, fades, peels, or turns purple while under warranty, we will replace it at no additional cost to you, but we guarantee that this will never happen!

9. How durable is window film?
Window film is protected by a hard scratch-resistant coating that can withstand everyday use and kids. The key word however is "resistant", this does not mean "scratch-proof". Even glass will scratch, so be careful when loading and unloading objects with sharp edges, boxes, sporting equipment, and also when releasing your seatbelt, this can easily make small nicks that are not covered by your warranty.

10. What is dyed-film, hybrid film, & full metalized film, and what are the differences?
A Dyed Film is just as it says. The polyester is dyed in a submersion process that is absorbed into the porous material. This is the most effective way to ensure good color. On the down side, the sun will fade out this color over time. Another way is the dyed adhesive process where the adhesive is colored prior to the application to the clear polyester. Metalized Films are created by a process called sputtering. This is an advanced process that uses a rod of desired metal such as nickel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum and others that is literally converted into a molten form and "sputtered" on the surface of the film by charging the metal and the film with opposing ions allowing the metal to penetrate and uniformly bond to the film. A Hybrid Film is a bonding together of a dyed film and a fully metalized film. This is the best film for good color and long lasting quality.

11. What is the difference between after-market tinting and factory tinted windows?
Some truck and sport utility vehicles come from the manufacturer with glass that has been darkened using an electrical process called "Deep Dipping". This "Factory Tinted" glass has a dark shade but does not protect the interior of your car from the sun’s heat or damaging UV rays. Only an after-market window film can do this. Major film manufacturers have formulated window film materials to closely match the factory tinted glass allowing the front door windows of some truck and SUV's to have window film with a legal matching shade. It is also possible to apply after-market window film over factory tinted glass to make the windows darker and to improve performance.
In other words, "Factory Tint" means that the glass is actually dyed. Color is dyed into the glass and it can never be removed. "After-Market Tint" is a transparent layer of polyester with an adhesive side that bonds to the glass and helps defend against damage from UV rays and other sun damaging effects. After-Market window film can be removed.
